Here are a few winter maintenance products you will want to be sure to have in stock and be sure to use to keep your boat and motor package protected and ready for the spring.

Marine Formula Sta-Bil treatment for ethanol
Today’s fuel that contains a percentage of ethanol can wreak havoc on both 2 and 4 stroke engines. We recommend adding Sta-Bil on a regular basis. This is especially true when your boat is stored or idle for the winter. Call us with questions.

Biodegradable anti-freeze for water systems
It doesn’t take but a few cold days to affect the fittings, hoses and water tank if you boat has a fresh water system. We recommend adding a biodegradable anti-freeze to keep your system protected.

*Winterizing Checklist*

• Change spark plugs
• Change gear oil & seals
• Replace prop cotter pin
• Remove prop & grease shaft
• Grease all fittings & moving parts
• Change all fuel filters
• Add fuel stabilizer
• Crank engine to test
• Spray engine w/ protectant spray
• Check/clean battery connections & disable
• Drain bilge/remove drain plug
• Drain water in tanks & cycle antifreeze
• Check steering, turn & grease

SPECIAL NOTES:
With four-stroke engines it is best to change the oil to take out deposits and particles and the same goes for the lower unit. If there is water in the lower unit from a seal breaking it could freeze and crack the housing resulting in a costly repair in the spring. 

Another area forgotten in the winter is the freshwater tank and pump. It is necessity to pour a biodegradable anti freeze in the tank and cycle it through the system to eliminate issues there.

We will debuting a brand new Key West model that you will want to plan in advance to see, tour and request a package price. This new model will be in demand and an ideal candidate for spring delivery.
